On Nov. 15, 2023, TradeBeyond was proud to host the return of its annual Global Sourcing Day in Hong Kong. With the world of global sourcing undergoing transformational changes, there was plenty to discuss. The day featured presentations from respected global sourcing authorities, including sourcing veteran Christophe Roussel, Rick Horwitch from Bureau Veritas, leading ESG experts, and TradeBeyond’s own CEO Michael Hung.

Rick’s focus is helping Bureau Veritas’s customers build a greater connection with their customers, protect their brands, reduce costs and improve cycle time through more sustainable and resilient supply chain’s and business models. He has over 40 years’ experience in the consumer products industry covering all facets of business – manufacturing, product development, sourcing, sales, marketing and operations – with companies such as Deena, Kurt Salmon Associates and Warnaco/PVH. He’s also on the Board of Directors of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) and the Executive Board of the Americas Apparel Producers Network (AAPN).

Roland van Os is currently the Chief Commercial Officer at Otto International Hong Kong, a member of the Otto Group. He has deep experience leading and managing global sourcing and procurement organizations, with a focus on e-commerce, commercial management, procurement, and digital end-to-end value chain, including 3d product development. During his 10 years with Otto International, he has worked out of Istanbul, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.

Kevin is the Managing Director, Advisory at LRQA. Prior to his current role Kevin was the Managing Director of ELEVATE where he also occupied positions as Chief Product Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Advisory. He has 20+ years experience advising business on ESG, global risks, analytics and management systems. This includes extensive senior level engagement with many of the world’s largest companies on corporate strategy, sustainability, metrics-driven risk management and award-winning integrated reporting. Prior to ELEVATE, Kevin was the Chief Operating Officer of Verisk Maplecroft where he also oversaw the product and supply chain management practice. This included work on supply chain strategy, organizational resilience, responsible sourcing, human rights due diligence and compliance across a range of sectors including consumer goods, manufacturing, electronics and extractives. Kevin has a Master’s degree in Policy and Planning, and a PhD from Warwick Business School with a focus on systems theory, collaborative decision-making, and the role of data / analytics in performance management. He is an experienced auditor and has authored numerous reports / delivered key note sessions at numerous high-level international fora.

With over 25 years of experience in the supply chain industry, Stéphane clearly understands the challenges involved in end-to-end manufacturing. The idea of developing Pivot88 came out of his own experience in the supply chain, and in particular on remote quality management and supply chain optimization. During his career, Stéphane held several executive positions at various companies including Toyota Industrial Group of Company, Deloitte Consulting and Ryder Logistics, and spent over 15 years working in Asia within Quality Management processes. Today with Pivot88, his focus is on helping companies overcome quality management challenges through the use of emerging technologies, providing visibility into the most vulnerable and riskiest parts of the supply chain.

An expert on environmental issues related to supply chains, Sophie You works with RESET Carbon’s senior management team on corporate growth strategy and leads their supply chain practice across Asia. Before joining RESET Carbon, she was the Head of Sustainability & Sourcing at a French lingerie company, where she led the development and execution of the brand’s sustainability and sourcing strategies. Previously, she spent a decade at the iconic American retailer Target, spearheading their public-facing water strategy and playing an instrumental role across their fabric development, supply chain and responsible sourcing teams.

Paul Walsh is CEO of Newtimes Development Ltd. He was previously COO of Newtimes Group of Companies. Newtimes is one of the world’s largest privately held apparel development and sourcing companies. Before joining Newtimes, Paul was Global General Manager: Group Sourcing for Edcon Groups private label business, covering apparel, footwear & accessory portfolios into the South Africa retail market. Prior to that, he was Director and General Manager – HK for PPR/Redcats and has also held positions at Levi Strauss (HK) Ltd. Paul is a graduate of the University of Leeds with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Textile Management, 2:1
